Reading Orwell today: on freedom and the right to tell people what they don’t want to hear

150 150 Time To Talk

This page featured a live stream of the CCCB debate, Reading Orwell today, on freedom and the right to tell people what they don’t want to hear.

Miquel Berga and Marc Martinez formed the panel for this evening and sought to look at Orwellian concepts, such as his defence of freedom of expression and his opposition to censorship, asking: to what extent did George Orwell correctly predict the world we live in and how much can his work continue to inform us in our struggles against illiberal tendencies today?

The stream has now finished, but a full (Catalan-language) recording of the evening can be found here and an English-language highlights video will also be produced and uploaded to the debate’s event page in the near future. Our event page also features more background information about the debate and its speakers and you can access it by clicking here.
