Caroline Lees is a researcher at the University of Oxford’s Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism and the editor of a Europe-wide network of journalism research platforms, entitled the European Journalism Observatory.

A former news and foreign correspondent, she has worked as a South Asia correspondent for The Sunday Times, covering areas such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Kashmir. She has also worked in many parts of Africa, writing about Eritrea for The Economist, the fall of Mobutu in the then Zaire and refugee camps in Goma. In other previous roles, she was also an assistant foreign editor at The Sunday Times and The Sunday Telegraph and a foreign editor at the Sunday Express and Scotland on Sunday.
